Sikino island

Sikinos is a small island, situated in the southern Cyclades between the islands of Ios and Folegandros.

It is a very beautiful island, ideal for peaceful and carefree holidays surrounded by charming nature and the blue waters of the Aegean Sea.

The island has the architectural characteristics of white houses with colourful gardens and flower boxes on the windows.

Sikinos is a very scenic and tranquil island, that offers some wonderful scenery and inspiring landscapes.

Visitors to this island cannot but to relax.

The island is ideal for those who enjoy walking and exploring, and there are several interesting places that one can visit.

At the highest point of the island you can find the picturesque windmills.

Just outside of Episkopi are the ruins of an ancient settlement as well as the Cape of Malta where visitors

can see a collection of ruins that have been named Paleokastro by the locals who reside here.

Also worth visiting is the charming Folklore Museum where visitors can also see the old olive press building, where olive production was carried out in days gone by.

The white church of Pantanesas, which was built in 1787 is also worth seeing.

Sikinos has a nice choice of beaches for swimming, such as the sandy beach found at the port of Alopronia, or Ano Pronia as it is also known.

To visit some of the other more remote beaches on the island such as Agios Georgios, Dialiskari and Agios Panteleimonas, you would need to take a boat from the harbour.

Visitors to the island will find a nice selection of accommodation including rooms and apartments for let as well as several hotels.

There are tavernas and restaurants around Sikinos where you can enjoy a wide variety of cuisine including fresh fish.

Sikinos has a boat connection with Pireaus in Athens, as well as local services to the surrounding islands.

Sikinos is still one of the most untouched island of the Cyclades.

Tourists come here for the peacefulness and to experience the laid-back lifestyle of the locals.

There are no sandy beaches here, bu you can find very good cliffs to jump in from though and get out.

There is a boat that will take you to the Ag Georgios beach.

The best way to get here is to fly to Santorini and then take the ferryboat.

Sikinos is also connected with Athens Piraeus, Naxos and Mykonos.

It is a good idea to leave the island at least a day before departure since the boats are cancelled if it gets too windy, leaving you stranded here.

The island produces fine honey and olive oil and famous wine in the ancient years.
