In the area of Kato Nisi there is a Pyrgos or castle called Pyrgos ton Meladon meaning castle of the Melas family,

Built for defensive purposes in the late 1800, today the property is used for cultivating produce and raising livestock.
Visitors are encouraged to visit Pyrgos, admire the spectacular, panoramic view of the Laconic Bay from the top of the building,
taste local delicacies and listen to the interesting history of both the property and the generations of its owners.
The island is one that is very popular with Greeks and is not one that has embraced mass tourism on any kind of scale.
This is what makes this island so special and a delight to visit.

Simos is a huge bay of white sand, and offers visitors a truly beautiful beach on which to relax and enjoy the crystal blue waters.
