Anafi island
It is a very small, harsh island with steep cliffs offering spectacular views of the sea and unforgettable sunsets just a two hours sail away from Santorini.
Anafi is a great place for recreation and relaxation.
Here, time stands still and you can enjoy the friendly atmosphere and little taverns without the pressure of doing and seeing lots of things.
According to mythology, the island was created by the god Apollo and he was probably worshipped here.
Anafi rose from the sea at Apollo command, to protect Jason and the Argonauts who were beset by a storm, on their return voyage in quest of the Golden Fleece.
The beach in the little harbour Ag Nikolaos is a nice sandy one.
You can also go to various beaches with a small boat starting from there.
It is also nice to go on daytrips to Santorini.
The island of Anafi, despite the proximity to Santorini is far away from the beaten path routes off the Cyclades.
There is a port, a chora and really very beautiful beaches.
If you are looking for an original cyclades island, you will probably still find it here.
The port of Agios Nikolaos is still a good point to stay, because the beaches and the chora are good reachable on foot or by bus.
The Chora of Anafi is not very big, but it offers good typical taverns with good food and it has a very nice view to Santorini.
Until 1990, Anafi was a very popular island for people who wanted to sleep at the beach.
At night, there were campfires and you could live for the moment.
Those days are gone, unfortunately, because now beach sleepers are not longer tolerated, in any case not on the main beaches.
Nevertheless, the island of Anafi is for connoisseurs always worth a visit.
Anafi has an area of 38.4 square kilometers, a coastline of 32.4 kilometres and a maximum altitude of 579 metres with Mount Vigla.
The island distance from Piraeus port is 155 nautical miles.
The beach in Klissidi comes complete with trees and shrubs, and some large palm trees.
The island of Anafi has beautiful sandy beaches.
In front of the village Klissidi itself there is a beautiful long sandy beach.
The real naturist beaches are a bit east of the village and these are also beautiful sandy beaches.
